The first one I bought was faulty ( sticky zoom, I suspect it was damaged in the post as the packaging was damaged too) but was exchanged very quickly at no cost to me ( Telescope House) . The new one is excellent. Zooming is smooth and optically it is razor sharp, certainly as good as a couple of TeleVue plossls I had ( and sold since I got this zoom).
Field of view is quite narrow, but for ease of use I can stand that. It is excellent to use in my Dob and Newtonian where changing eyepieces can be a bit fiddly and you dont lose the object in the viewfinder as you magnify the view.
All in all, it is a great eyepice to compliment other better quality ones, its major benefit is that you have a wide range of eyepieces in one and can be out viewing quickly.

The first eyepiece to be delivered (and very quickly too) was defective in that it jammed and was therefore unusable.
After contacting the seller they searched their stock and found that there were many more unserviceable items but that they had 5 that were OK. The defective one was returned (at my expense!) and upon receipt a new item sent out.
I feel that the company should have paid for the return and sent the new one at least as quickly as I had. Mine arrived within 24 hours, theirs a week later!
In use the eyepiece is good with excellent optics although the 'zoom' action is still not as smooth as I would expect. It does fulfil its purpose in providing a zoom lens and makes setting up my Synscan Goto scope very easy and zooming in on objects a breeze compared with swoping eyepieces. So for quick viewing when its ****** cold or you don't have much time its great.
If you buy this item make sure that you contact the seller first and get them to check that it works OK before sending.
Overall; I'm unlikely to choose Meade or this seller for my next purchase.
